If you play on PC, the question is simple: will GTA 6 be on PC? As of October 24, 2026, Rockstar has not announced a PC version, a PC release date or a PC store page.
This page separates what Rockstar has confirmed from what its past releases suggest. It also gives you a dated table of the console-to-PC gap for earlier Rockstar games, so you can judge the wait for yourself.
Rockstar has not confirmed GTA 6 for PC. The game is announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. A report points to a PC release in early 2027, but it is unconfirmed, and past Rockstar games reached PC about 7 to 19 months after console.
The short answer: GTA 6 on PC is not confirmed
No. Rockstar has not confirmed a PC version of GTA 6. Today the game is announced only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a release date of Thursday, November 19, 2026.
That does not rule PC out. It means nothing official exists yet. Here is where each claim stands.
| Claim | Status | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| GTA 6 releases November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S | Confirmed | Rockstar Newswire |
| GTA 6 launches on PC the same day | Not announced | No Rockstar post or store page as of October 24, 2026 |
| GTA 6 comes to PC later | Not announced | Take-Two has spoken about PC only in general terms |
| GTA 6 reaches PC in Q1 2027 | Reported, not confirmed | GamesBeat report, October 13, 2026; Rockstar declined to comment |
| GTA 6 never comes to PC | Not announced either | No statement from Rockstar or Take-Two |

What Rockstar has confirmed about PC
Rockstar announced the current release date on November 6, 2025: Grand Theft Auto VI will release on Thursday, November 19, 2026. For the delay history behind that date, see gta 6 delayed again: the full timeline.
Press coverage of Rockstar’s platform listing names PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC version, PC date, PC store page or PC system requirements has been announced.
The closest thing to a PC statement came from Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company. At its annual shareholder meeting in September 2026, CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about PC. Press reports quote him saying “the PC platform is becoming more and more important.” Reports say he did not confirm a GTA 6 PC version or give a date.
There is also a report. On October 13, 2026, GamesBeat said four anonymous industry sources told it Rockstar plans to release the PC version in the first quarter of 2027, which means January to March. Press coverage says Rockstar declined to comment. That is a report, not an announcement, and plans for a game this large can change.
Platform questions beyond PC, including whether players on different systems will share servers, have their own page: will gta 6 be crossplay? ps5, xbox and pc.
The historical pattern, title by title
Every original open-world release in the table below went to console first. The table lists the console launch, the PC launch and the gap for each game I could verify.
Rockstar’s console-to-PC release gap for each title, with dates. Day-level dates for GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas differ by a day between sources, so those rows use months.
| Game | Console launch | PC launch | Gap | Source basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto III | October 2001 (PS2) | May 2002 | About 6–7 months | PC Gamer history; press coverage |
| GTA: Vice City | October 2002 (PS2) | May 2003 | About 6–7 months | PC Gamer history; press coverage |
| GTA: San Andreas | October 2004 (PS2) | June 2005 | About 7 months | PC Gamer history; press coverage |
| Grand Theft Auto IV | April 29, 2008 (PS3, Xbox 360) | December 2, 2008 | 7 months | PC Gamer history; press coverage |
| Red Dead Redemption | May 18, 2010 (PS3, Xbox 360) | October 29, 2024 | About 14 years, 5 months | VGC; Rockstar announcement |
| Grand Theft Auto V | September 17, 2013 (PS3, Xbox 360) | April 14, 2015 | About 19 months | Press coverage of the PC date |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 26, 2018 (PS4, Xbox One) | November 5, 2019 | About 12 months | Rockstar announcement, October 4, 2019 |
| GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition (remaster) | November 11, 2021 | November 11, 2021 | Same day | Press coverage of the launch |
If GTA 6 followed past gaps: this is arithmetic from the November 19, 2026 console date. It is not a forecast and not a Rockstar statement.
| If the gap matched | Gap used | PC date would land around |
|---|---|---|
| GTA III to GTA IV | 7 months | June 2027 |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | 12 months | November 2027 |
| GTA V | 19 months | June 2028 |
| GamesBeat report (unconfirmed) | About 6 weeks to 4½ months | January to March 2027 |
If the console date moves again, the gap rows move with it. If the GamesBeat report is right, the gap would be shorter than any new-game gap in the table.
What the table shows. The four earlier mainline games each reached PC about 6 to 7 months after console. The two most recent large open-world releases took longer: about 12 months for Red Dead Redemption 2 and about 19 months for GTA V.
The first Red Dead Redemption is the outlier. It stayed off PC for more than 14 years, a reason to avoid treating any single number as a promise.
The Trilogy is not a counterexample. It is a remaster of three older games. Press coverage also reports its PC version was pulled for about 72 hours after launch.
The record supports one careful statement: Rockstar has often brought its big games to PC, after the console launch. It does not support a date.
Why the console-first gap exists
Rockstar has not explained why PC comes later for each game. Some of what follows is documented and some is inference, labeled below.
Documented. In an older statement reported by Checkpoint Gaming, Rockstar said it releases on PC when that is viable technically, in development and as a business, and that this is not true every time. Video Games Chronicle reports the Red Dead Redemption PC version was made with the studio Double Eleven, so a PC version can be separate, dedicated work.
Our reading. These reasons fit the evidence. They are not statements from Rockstar or Take-Two.
- One hardware target at launch. Two consoles with fixed hardware give a smaller test surface than thousands of PC configurations.
- PC-specific work. Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption PC release added keyboard and mouse support, ultrawide support, HDR10 and upscaling options, which is extra work.
None of these predicts a length. They only explain why “later” has been Rockstar’s habit.
What a PC version would need from your machine
There are no official GTA 6 PC system requirements, because there is no announced PC version. A requirements list that claims otherwise is a guess.
When requirements tend to appear. For Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar announced the PC date on October 4, 2019 and said system specifications would follow on October 9, about four weeks before launch. Expect requirements late, not early.
What a recent Rockstar PC release included. The Red Dead Redemption PC version listed native 4K at up to 144 Hz, ultrawide support, HDR10, DLSS 3.7, FSR 3.0 and DLSS Frame Generation. A GTA 6 PC version would likely be judged against a list like that.
Our reading. A game built first for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will probably be tuned against that hardware. A PC well below that level is the more likely to need lower settings. This is reasoning, not a specification.
You can check your current setup now, without guessing at numbers:
| Part | What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows version and whether it is 64-bit | Requirement lists normally name a minimum Windows version |
| Graphics card | Exact model and video memory | Usually the main limit on resolution and settings |
| Processor | Exact model and core count | Large open worlds put heavy load on the CPU |
| Storage | Free space and whether the drive is an SSD | Open-world games are large and stream data constantly |
| Memory | Total RAM installed | Low RAM causes stutter in big open-world games |
How this page is kept updated
This page changes when the facts change: when Rockstar posts about PC, when the platform list changes, when the console date moves, or when Rockstar or Take-Two say something new about PC. The “Updated” date at the top shows the last change, and the log below records each one.
Evidence basis: Official Rockstar and Take-Two announcements come first, then press reports that quote them. Reports based on anonymous sources are labeled as reports and never stated as fact. Where a source disagrees with Rockstar, Rockstar’s wording wins. I did not play, test or measure anything for this page.
From official sources: the November 19, 2026 release date (Rockstar Newswire) and the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC date (Take-Two press release).
From press coverage: the Take-Two remarks (PC Gamer), the Red Dead Redemption PC release and features (Video Games Chronicle), the GTA III to GTA IV gaps (PC Gamer) and the GTA V dates (Tom’s Guide France, in French).
Reported, not confirmed: the Q1 2027 PC window comes from a GamesBeat report, read through coverage by Dexerto and TweakTown.
How gaps are calculated: whole months from the console launch to the PC launch, rounded. Exact days are used only where sources agree.
